English for Academic Study (EAS)

Free English language support

If English is not your first language, USC will provide you with a free, eight-week informal course.

EAS is specifically designed for students with minimum entry level English skills. It is not intended to support students at higher English language proficiency levels. Registration is essential. 

Eligibility

To participate, you must be:

  • an international student from a non-English speaking background
  • in your first semester or session or trimester of a USC Award, Study Abroad, Exchange or Tertiary Preparation program, or 
  • in any semester of the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, or undergraduate Nursing programs or Teacher Education programs.

Course dates and times

EAS classes for Semester 2, 2012 run from 23 July to 13 September 2012.

All EAS classes run from 3.30pm–5.30pm in the classrooms on Level 1, Building J.

Course content

Repeat sessions run daily from Monday to Thursday with a focus on Academic Writing.

Classes follow a set syllabus but allow for specific needs (eg paragraphing, summarising, paraphrasing and referencing).
