Academic English intermediate programs

Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP) Stage 1 / IELTS Preparation (Intermediate)

USC's Academic English intermediate programs are excellent preparation for further studies.

Our intermediate programs offer:

  • skills to participate in seminars and lectures
  • essay writing
  • assessment includes assignments, reading and listening tests and an oral presentation
  • use of University facilities and resources
  • IELTS exam preparation
  • a certificate on course completion (if satisfactorily attended)

Successful completion will allow you to progess to upper intermediate English, or apply for USC's Tertiary Preperation Pathway (TPP) * and some TAFE and diploma level programs.

The intermediate level programs are 10-week, full-time (25 hours per week) courses, that articulate into USC's upper intermediate programs.

* Successful completion of TPP does not meet USC's English language entry requirements for other programs.

Academic English upper intermediate programs

Direct Entry English Pathway (DEEP) Stage 2 /IELTS Preparation (Upper Intermediate)

USC's Academic English upper intermediate programs are excellent preparation for USC's Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) or other USC degree programs.

Our upper intermediate programs offer:

  • academic skills and study strategies
  • university style assessment items
  • assignments, reading and listening tests and an oral presentation
  • use of USC facilities and resources
  • opportunities to experience a variety of lectures at USC
  • IELTS Exam preparation
  • a certificate on course completion (if satisfactorily attended)

Successful completion of DEEP Stage 2 IELTS Preparation/Upper Intermediate will satisfy the minimum English language requirement for entry into USC's Study Abroad program, most undergraduate award programs, and some postgraduate programs.

The upper intermediate programs are 10-week, full-time (25 hours per week) courses.
