Tips for preparing for a successful visit
‘Dream big, start now’ presentation
(Years 8-10) (Available Jan to Dec)
Kick their imaginations into gear! This presentation will get your Year 8 to 10 students thinking about the career they may pursue and whether university is right for them. Presentations are tailored to meet each year level’s specific needs and address topics relevant to their stage of decision making.
Headstart Program presentation
(Years 10-12) (Available Jan to Dec)
A presentation about the Headstart Program will inform and excite Year 10, 11 and 12 students with the opportunity to study at university while in Year 11 and 12. Often delivered by a past Headstart student, your students will hear first hand what it’s like to balance school with university study and enhance their transition into university.
'What's your story going to be?' presentation
(Years 11-12) (Available Feb to Nov)
With many questions about what university really involves, Year 11 and 12 students will enjoy the focus on student life, study options and career opportunities. The presentation also covers many generic university related topics, as well as what USC offers your students.
Combined ‘What’s your story going to be?’/Headstart Program presentation
(Year 11) (Available Feb to Nov)
To prepare your Year 11s for the many choices they face towards the end of school, this presentation will explore the basics of university as well as the opportunity to participate in the Headstart program in Year 11 and 12.
‘What to expect next’ presentation
(Year 12) (Available Sept to Nov)
Packed with practical tips for starting uni, this presentation provides insight from current USC students into what uni life is really like. Your students will learn what to expect now that they've completed their QTAC applications and find out how to best prepare themselves for university.
Customised Presentations
(Years 8-12) (Available Jan to Dec)
We realise that not all students require the same information so the specific needs of your students can be catered to with a customised presentation, designed to address the topics of your choice. University academic staff from particular discipline areas may also be available to run activities, give presentations or guest classes.
USC participation in school events
USC regularly participates in school organised events and activities; including career expos, subject selection evenings, parent information evenings and other activities.
Guest lessons by a USC Academic
Several USC academics from a variety of discipline areas are available to visit your school during Term 2, 2012 to deliver guest lessons to your students. If you would like a USC academic to visit your school complete the Academic School Visit Form or contact External Relations for more information.
Not on the Sunshine Coast? No worries.
All of our presentations are available for schools outside of our region through online technologies, including real-time delivery allowing interactive discussion.

Tips for preparing for a successful visit
- As there are often months between making a booking and the school visit, we will contact you about two weeks prior to re-confirm the finer details (i.e. number of students, start and finish time, venue and audio-visual equipment available in the venue). Please ensure you have finalised these details by this time.
- Hauling heavy boxes of publications up a flight of stairs does not make for a happy Student Ambassador! Please make sure the presentation venue is accessible to trolleys so they can just wheel on in.
- Please provide the full presentation time agreed to prior to the visit. Important information may be skipped when a Student Ambassador tries to talk in fast-forward, trying to squeeze a presentation into a shorter than planned time frame.
- Even though the Student Ambassador will be leading the show, please ensure there is adequate teacher supervision for the duration of the visit. The Student Ambassadors are not able to assume duty-of-care for the students while at your school.
