Information for visiting and cross-institutional students

Visiting students

Visiting students apply directly to the University to complete one or several individual courses (subjects) for professional or personal development, rather than enrolling in an undergraduate degree program.

Visiting students are classified as non-award students, pay up-front tuition fees and receive normal instruction, assessment and formal results.

Visiting students who subsequently enrol in a degree program at the University may have completed visiting study assessed for credit transfer.

Please note that if English is not your first language, you need to meet the minimum English language requirements for your chosen program.

Step 1:

Choose the course(s) (subjects) in which you wish to enrol. Overviews of each course are available by selecting the relevant program.

Step 2:

Domestic students (includes Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens and holders of an Australian permanent visa, including permanent humanitarian visas):

Complete a Visiting Student Application Form (PDF 525.8).*

Lodge the completed application form, with supporting documentation for previous qualification(s) or other relevant experience, to Student Administration by the due date.

International students

Complete the International Visiting Student Application form.

Lodge the completed application form with supporting documentation with USC International.

Cross-institutional students

Cross-institutional students enrol in a course(s) through another institution which, on successful completion, can be credited to the program at the home institution.

Application procedures for cross-institutional enrolment are available for:

Students from other universities

Cross-institutional study is offered to students from other universities who wish to enrol in courses at USC so that on their successful completion, can be credited towards a program at their home university.

If English is not your first language, you need to meet the minimum English language requirements for your chosen program.

How to apply

Step 1:
Select your course(s). Read the University's course descriptions to assist your selection.

Step 2:
Ensure you meet all prerequisites (or equivalents) for your chosen course(s). Seek advice from the relevant Faculty for more information.

Step 3:
Domestic students (includes Australian Citizens, New Zealand Citizens and holders of an Australian Permanent Visa including Permanent Humanitarian Visas) complete the Cross Institutional Study Application Form (PDF 340.5KB))

* Lodge the completed application form with supporting documentation to Student Administration at the University of the Sunshine Coast by the due date.

International students

Complete the International Student Application for Cross Institutional Study.

Lodge the completed application form with supporting documentation with USC International.

Current USC students

As a current USC student, you may be eligible to study courses from another university and have those courses credited towards your USC degree program.

How to apply

Step 1:
Select the course(s) you wish to complete from another institution. Use course descriptions provided by the institution to assist your selection. Check when the course(s) are offered and that you can meet the relevant application dates for the other institution.

Step 2:
Ensure you have met all prerequisites (equivalent USC courses) for your chosen course(s).

Step 3:
Complete the appropriate application from the institution where you wish to undertake studies and Cross-Institutional Study Approval Form (PDF 105.2KB) *

Step 4:
Make an appointment with a staff member from your USC Faculty Administration office. Present the application form and course descriptions from the institution at which you wish to study and the USC Cross-Institutional Study Approval form for consideration.

Step 5:
Once you have completed your cross-institutional study, provide an official transcript of your results to Student Administration at USC as soon as possible, for course credit to be processed.
