Information for accommodation providers
Off-Campus Accommodation Register
The register is a free service for students and staff seeking accommodation in the local area and for accommodation providers to promote their vacancies. The register is updated regularly and includes suburb, accommodation details and contact information for each accommodation provider.
Advertising accommodation
To advertise a room for rent, complete the off campus accommodation register form. Hard copy forms are available at the USC Student Guild or download an electronic copy here:
Return your form to the USC Student Guild in person at the Uni Club located next to the oval and near car park 5, or via email info@uscstudentguild.org.au.
Once received, your accommodation will be entered into the Off-Campus Accommodation Register for students to access. Each listing is kept on the register for one month, or until removed by the provider when the accommodation is taken up—whichever is the lesser time.
Frequently asked questions
What should I charge for my accommodation?
Share accommodation generally ranges between $90–$180 per week depending on proximity to campus, accommodation type and any extras included such as electricity, internet and/or food. Bearing in mind the financial status of most students, it is recommended that you keep prices between the $90–$150 brackets if you wish your accommodation to be filled quickly.
Can I ask for bond?
There are different types of agreements and rules depending on which type of property/accommodation you are offering and if you are going to lodge a rental bond with the Residential Tenancies Authority.
What should I list about the accommodation offered?
It is important to tell students how far accommodation is from the campus and if public transport is available nearby. In addition, potential tenants will need to know if the room is furnished, the size and condition of the accommodation and internet connectivity is beneficial as well.
More information about room accommodation agreements can be found at the Residential Tenancies Authority.
What if I am unhappy about the tenancy and wish to terminate the agreement?
There are rights and responsibilities which all parties (the tenant and the owner/lease holder) must abide by. Instances of misconduct are not a University matter and are not dealt with by University staff. More information can be sought from the Residential Tenancies Authority.
