Social activities and clubs

Studying at university can mean shifting away from previous networks of support and friends. Scary? Maybe. Exciting? Definitely! USC is a very friendly place and you'll find plenty of opportunities to meet people and make new friends. Here are some tips to get you started:

  • Take part in social activities and events for students.
  • Participate in sports activities. USC Sport caters for all fitness levels with professional and social sports available. You could also join sporting groups who use USC facilities.
  • Join a club or society and find people who may share your interests.
  • Swing past the UniClub after class and chat to friendly staff and students there.
  • Embrace difference—be open to people who are different to you. New people, ideas and cultures can bring a whole new perspective to your life.
  • Break the ice—say "hello" at the cafe, tutorial or lecture.
  • Ask for help—there is always someone to talk to at USC. If you are feeling lonely or worried about making friends, the student engagement officer is there to help.
