Uechi Ryu Karate is one of the four original styles of karate in Okinawa. It draws on concepts and is similar to those found in other Okinawan karate’s such as Gojo Ryu and Chinese Pangai-noon (half-hard, half-soft) Kung Fu. Uechi Ryu is considered a hard style which is designed for close range defence with an emphasis on body toughness and quick foot strikes. Uechi Ryu is primarily a three animal style: Tiger, Dragon and Crane.
