Description Web of Science provides access to current and retrospective multidisciplinary information from the most prestigious, high-impact research journals in the world.

Web of Science also provides cited reference searching. With it, you can navigate forward, backward, and through the literature, searching all disciplines and time spans.

It includes the following citation databases:
  • Science Citation Index Expanded—provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information, author abstracts, and cited references found in approximately 5,900 of the world's leading scholarly science and technical journals covering more than 150 disciplines.
  • Social Sciences Citation Index—provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information, author abstracts, and cited references found in over 1,700 of the world's leading scholarly social sciences journals covering more than 50 disciplines. It also covers individually selected, relevant items from approximately 3,300 of the world's leading science and technology journals.
  • Arts and Humanities Citation Index—provides access to current and retrospective bibliographic information and cited references found in nearly 1,130 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals. It also covers individually selected, relevant items from approximately 7,000 of the world's leading science and social sciences journals.
