Car travel and parking
The Sippy Downs campus is highly accessible for cars with a close proximity to the Sunshine Motorway and Bruce Highway.
It is important to note that the USC campus is bounded by local schools which can affect traffic conditions during the day.
Parking and driving on campus
Parking at the University is free, but can be limited in peak times. If you are attending an event on campus, parking is available in the student and visitor parking areas, and at the Sports Stadium.
Refer to the campus map to locate the parking areas on campus.
To reduce traffic on campus, consider car pooling or using public transport. The USC Translink bus interchange connects the campus with bus services across the Sunshine Coast.
When parking or driving on campus remember:
- The campus is a regulated parking area defined by official parking signs.
- Observe the speed limits and traffic signage.
- Speed limits on campus are 40kph from the entry road to the first service road and 10kph on all other roads which are designated a shared pedestrian zone.
- Give way to pedestrians in a shared zone and do not drive faster than the 10kph speed limit.
- Park only in designated areas, not in restricted areas such as service roads, driveways, building entrances or grassed areas.
- Display the appropriate permit, if applicable.
- Be aware of pedestrians and school children on our campus, particularly in the vicinity of the bus interchange as this is a high usage shared zone.
There are special parking areas on campus:
- The campus has a number of disability parking bays spread throughout our car parks. Do not park in these bays without a valid permit.
- Access will only be given to vehicles with two or more occupants to car parks 6 and 8 between 7.30-9.30am, Monday to Friday. The Shared Ride Car Park will be monitored by Security's parking officers and the only exceptions will be given to disabled, taxi and reserved parking bays.
- There is dedicated Parents with Prams parking spaces conveniently located outside the Art Gallery exclusively for parents with children. This will make access to campus even easier. Just look out for the blue and white parking bays.
The campus car parks and roads are regulated by The Transport Operations (Road Use Management - Road Rules) Regulation 1999 and the Traffic Regulations provide the legislative guidelines for the operation, use and parking of motor vehicles on campus.
Queensland Police Service issue tickets on campus for traffic infringements.
The Land, Traffic and Parking Rules apply within the boundaries of University premises and to every part of University premises; and to every person who is at any time on University premises.
Designated drop-off / pick-up bay
The University has introduced a dedicated drop-off / pick-up bay to allow the easy transfer of passengers to and from the campus.
This bay is located adjacent to the Transit Centre.
