Connecting to Eduroam - Windows Vista

Step 1

Step 1 Connect to

a) Click on the ‘Start’ button.

b) Click ‘Connect to’

Step 2

Step 2 Network connection

a) Click ‘Set up a connection or network’.

Step 3

Step 3 Manual connect

a) Select ‘Manually connect to a wireless network’.

b) Click ‘Next’ to continue.

Step 4

Step 4 network name

a) Enter 'eduroam' as the Network Name'.

b) Select 'WPA2-Enterprise' as the Security Type.

c) Select 'AES' as the Encryption Type.

d) Check 'Start this connection automatically' if you would like to automatically connect to the eduroam network (This step is optional).

e) Click 'Next' to continue.

Step 5

Step 5 Change settings

a) Click 'Change connection settings'.

Step 6

Step 6 Security

a) Click on the 'Security' tab.

b) Ensure that the Security type selected is 'WPA2-Enterprise'.

c) Ensure that the Encryption type is 'AES'.

d) Click the 'Settings' button.

Step 7

Step 7 Validate server

a) Un-check 'Validate server certificate' option. Make sure no certificates are selected.

b) Click the 'Configure' button.

Step 8

Step 8 automatic logon

a) Un-check 'Automatically use my Windows logon name and password'.

b) Click 'OK'

Click 'OK' on the Protected EAP Properties window.

Step 9

Click ‘OK’ to close Eduroam Network properties.

Click ‘Close’ to close the manually connect to a wireless network window.

Step 10

Step 10 LAN Connection

Check to make sure you have set up your proxy settings. Open up internet explorer and click on tools from the list select internet options

Select the ‘Connections’ tab

Click the ‘LAN Settings’ button.

Step 11

Step 11 Automatic configuration

Under the ‘Automatic Configuration’ heading select the check box next to ‘Automatically detect settings’

Close all windows

Step 12

Step 12 Connect

Note: Make sure your wireless is turned on.

Note: To complete the following steps you must be in range of the wireless network.

Click on the ‘Start’ button.

a) Click ‘Connect to’.

Step 13

Step 13 Security Enabled Network

a) Select the ‘eduroam’ network.

b) Click ‘Connect’.

Step 14

Step 14 Enter select logon

a) Click ‘Enter/select additional log on information’.

Step 15

Step 15 Logon credentials

When prompted
a) Enter your email address

b) Enter your password

c) Click ‘OK’

Step 16

Open your web browser to start browsing the web.
