Connecting to USC Wireless Apple Mac OSX 10

Step 1

    1. Click the apple symbol located in the top left hand corner

    1. Select ‘System Preferences’ from the menu

    1. Select ‘Airport’
    2. Click the ‘Advanced’ button

    1. Select the ‘802.1X’ tab
    2. Click the ‘+’ symbol
    3. Select ‘Add user profile’

Step 6

    1. Type in ‘USC Wireless +’
    2. Enter your email address
    3. Enter your password
    4. Ensure the only Authentication protocol selected is ‘PEAP’
    5. Select ‘USC Wireless +’ as the Wireless Network
    6. Ensure ‘WPA2 Enterprise’ is selected as the Security Type

Step 7

    1. Select the ‘Proxies’ tab
    2. Check the box next to ‘Auto proxy discovery’

If you are not able to select ‘Auto proxy discovery’ (OSX 10.5 or older)

    1. Select ‘Web Proxy (HTTP)’ from the protocol list
    2. Enter ‘proxy.usc.edu.au’ as the Web proxy server
    3. Enter ‘8080’ as the port
    4. Type ‘*.usc.edu.au’ in the Bypass proxy settings for the Hosts and Domains section

    1. Close all windows and apply the settings

Please note to connect to the USC Wireless + network you must be in range of an access point, for an up to date list of locations where the wireless is available on campus please refer to wireless on campus.

    1. Make sure your airport is turned on. Select the ‘USC Wireless +’ network

Step 10

    1. Select ‘USC Wireless +’
    2. Make sure your email address is correct 
    3. Your password will also be automatically filled
    4. Click ‘OK’ The network menu stating that USC Wireless + requires a password and the area where your User Name, Password and 802.1X with USC Wireless + selected is shown (circled) along with the ok button which should be pressed last to confirm settings.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

Once connected you are able browse the web
