Connecting to USC Wireless Windows XP SP2 (English versions)

Step 1
- Click on the ‘Start’ button.
- Click on ‘Control Panel’.

Step 2
- Double click on the ‘Network connections’ icon.

Step 3
- Right click on the ‘Wireless Network connection’ icon and click on the ‘Properties’ option.
Step 4
- Click on the ‘Wireless Networks’ tab.
- Make sure the check box next to ‘Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings’ is checked. NOTE: information about third party network managing software.
- Click the ‘Add’ button.

Step 5
- Enter ‘USC Wireless +’ as the Network name (SSID).
- Select ‘WPA’ as the Network Authentication (Note: WPA2 works as well).
- Select ‘AES’ as the Data encryption.
- Click on the ‘Authentication’ tab.

Step 6
- Select ‘Protected EAP (PEAP)’ as the EAP type.
- Un-check ‘Authenticate as computer when computer information is available’.
- Click the ‘Properties’ button.

Step 7
- Un-check ‘Validate server certificate’.
- Click on the ‘Configure’ button.

Step 8

Un-check ‘Automatically use my Windows logon name and password’.
Click ‘OK’ on all windows to close them.
Step 9
Check to make sure you have set up your proxy settings. Open up internet explorer and click on tools from the list select internet options.
- Select the ‘Connections’ tab.
- Click the ‘LAN Settings’ button.

Step 10
- Under the ‘Automatic Configuration’ heading select the check box next to ‘Automatically detect settings’.
- Close all windows.
Note: Make sure your wireless is turned on. To complete the following steps you must be in a range of the wireless network. For an up to date list of locations where the wireless is available on campus please refer to wireless on campus.
Step 11
Connect to the USC Wireless + network. When connecting an information bubble will appear, click on it.
A credentials box will appear.
- Enter your university email address.
- Password.
- Click ‘OK’.


Once connected you can open your web browser.
Please note: when prompted for your details while visiting external website you must enter your username and password not your email address.
