Connecting to USC Wireless Windows 7

Step 1

    1. Click on the 'Wireless Network Connections' icon on the taskbar.The taskbar showing the yellow star icon Wireless Network Connections.

 

 

 

Step 2

Step 4

    1. Select 'Manually connect to a wireless network'.
    2. Click Next to continue.

Step 5

    1. Enter 'USC Wireless +' as the Network Name'.
    2. Select 'WPA2-Enterprise' as the Security Type.
    3. Select 'AES' as the Encryption Type.
    4. Check 'Start this connection automatically' if you would like to automatically connect to the USC Wireless + network (This step is optional).
    5. Click 'Next' to continue.

Step 6

Step 7

    1. Click on the 'Security' tab.
    2. Ensure that the Security type selected is 'WPA2-Enterprise'.
    3. Ensure that the Encryption type is 'AES'.
    4. Step 8

    1. Un-check 'Validate server certificate' option. Make sure no certificates are selected.
    2. Click the 'Configure' button.

Step 9

    1. Un-check 'Automatically use my Windows logon name and password'.
    2. Click 'OK'.

Step 10

    1. Click the 'Advanced settings' button.

    1. Ensure 'Specify authentication mode:' is checked.
    2. Ensure 'User authentication' is selected.
    3. Click 'OK'.
    4. Click 'OK' on the USC Wireless + Wireless Network Properties window.

Step 12

    1. Check to make sure you have set up your proxy settings. Open up internet explorer and click on tools from the list and select internet options.
    2. Select the ‘Connections’ tab.

Step 13

    1. Under the ‘Automatic Configuration’ heading select the check box next to ‘Automatically detect settings’.
    2. Close all windows.

Note: Make sure your wireless is turned on. Also, to complete the following steps you must be in range of the wireless network. For an up to date list of locations where the wireless is available on campus please refer to wireless on campus

Step 14

    1. Click on the 'Wireless Network Connections' icon on the taskbar.
    2. Connect to the USC Wireless + network by clicking the connect button.

Step 15

When prompted:

    1. Enter your student email address for example a_c001@student.usc.edu.au
    2. Enter your password.

Step 16

Open your web browser; you may be prompted for your username and password when visiting an external web site. Please note: your username is the alphanumeric combination used to login to the Portal and USCCentral.
