School of Nursing and Midwifery
Welcome to the School of Nursing and Midwifery in the Faculty of Science, Health, Education and Engineering.
From January 2012, following a University restructure, the School was formed with existing staff member, Associate Professor Margaret Barnes appointed as Head of School.
The School has proven its viability as a School due to its continued growth since commencement of the Bachelor of Nursing Science in 2007, which has remained one of the institutions most successful programs with almost 650 student enrolments.
Programs
The School offers a wide variety of nursing and midwifery programs, at both undergraduate and postgraduate entry levels, that emphasise producing graduates with greater career options by equipping them with a degree that is more attuned to the health industry, whilst aiming to substantially influence the health workforce in readiness for the opening of the Sunshine Coast Hospital in 2016 and the proposed co-located private hospital in 2012.
The unique composition of the School—its quality of staff and its fit with the University’s commitment to nursing and midwifery.
