Profile
Dr Anne Roiko (Neller) has an extensive and varied background in environmental and public health. Before joining the Faculty of Science, Health and Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Dr Roiko held teaching and research positions at Griffith University and the University of New England in Australia, Tampere University and the National Public Health Institute in Finland, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Outside of academia, Dr Roiko spent three years working for the Hong Kong Government within the Water Policy Section of the Environmental Protection Department. In addition to her current position as Senior Lecturer in Health and the Environment, she is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Program Leader for the Health and Environment Program within the Smart Water Research Facility at Griffith University. Dr. Roiko is actively involved as a member of several professional bodies and advisory groups on environmental health matters and was an inaugural member of the enHealth Council in Australia from 1999 to 2006. Her current research areas include the assessment of water-related health risks, the transfer of risk-based evidence into policy, the impacts of climate change on health risks and climate change adaptation.
