Profile
Shireen Fahey is an environmental scientist with over 30 years professional experience working for governmental and private sector clients and teaching at the university level. Her professional work has encompassed:
- marine research, scientific and industrial facility diving procedures and safety
- intergovernmental relations
- public and environmental health
- emergency management and logistics
- industrial effluent discharge and water quality analysis
- natural resource and environmental management
Shireen’s formal professional qualifications are in biological and marine sciences and environmental management.
Commencing work as a public health environmental specialist in 1975, Shireen has carried out a large number of environmental audits, intergovernmental relations activities, impact and risk assessments and oversight of environmental compliance programs both overseas and in Australia. Through this work Shireen has integrated holistic approaches to the environmental management of natural systems, industrial facilities and built infrastructure with an emphasis on integrated marine sciences and management.
On becoming actively involved with the USC, Shireen has become the Program Leader and Course Coordinator for the postgraduate programs in:
Climate Change Adaptation with specialties in:
- Integrated Coastal Zone Management and
- Environmental Change Management
