University Council

The Council is the University's governing body. Council derives its powers from the University of the Sunshine Coast Act 1998.

Council may appoint staff, manage and control the University's affairs and property, and manage and control the University's finances.

Council may also delegate its powers under the Act to a member of Council, a committee of Council, or to a member of staff.

The term of office of the majority of members is four years, with the term of office for student members being two years.

The Chancellor, John Dobson, OAM, presides at meetings of the Council.

2011 was the second year of the sixth University Council.
