Learning and Teaching Week

Colleagues stand together discussing the program at Learning and Teaching Week.

Learning and Teaching Week 2011 was held from 19–23 September at the University of the Sunshine Coast's Sippy Downs campus.

This annual week-long collection of activities created a forum for advancing learning and teaching at USC and provided an opportunity for staff to present research into their teaching practice, and to engage in reflection and collaboration with colleagues.

Learning and Teaching Week is an initiative of the Office of Learning and Teaching.

The theme for 2011 was 'The Learning Journey'.

This included the following strands:

  • Arrivals: The journey into university via a range of pathways; supporting transition into university; retention; high quality student experiences focused on engagement and immersion; supportive assessment practices.
  • Travellers’ Tales: sharing good practice and innovation; celebrations and successes; the USC experience; the best of both worlds.
  • Places and Spaces: the spatial dimension of where and how we learn; virtual to physical; learning environments; communities of practice.
  • Departures: impact of higher education policy and research on practice; transitions out of university; work integrated learning; capstone course experiences; graduate attributes and standards.

Presentations from Learning and Teaching Week can be accessed by USC staff through the Learning and Teaching Organisation on the USC Portal or by emailing LTWeek@usc.edu.au.
