University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Clark, has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Southern Cross University.

USC Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Thomas, said Professor Clark had played an outstanding role during an important development phase for USC in the four years he has spent there and his contribution to the University will be greatly missed.

"I am sure I speak on behalf of all staff and students in congratulating Professor Clark and wishing him well in his new position," Professor Thomas said.

Professor Clark will take over the reigns at Southern Cross University on August 30 and will be based at their Lismore campus.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University of the Sunshine Coast as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and I look forward to the challenges ahead as Vice-Chancellor of a university with 12,000 students studying at three campuses," Professor Clark said.

The Chancellor of Southern Cross University, the Hon Justice John Dowd said he was delighted with the strong field of applicants and was fortunate in securing a person of the calibre of Professor Clark to the position.

Justice Dowd cited Professor Clark's experience within a regional university and close collaboration with the community as reasons for his appointment to Vice-Chancellor.
