Keep Pace with free courses
May 17, 2004
Keeping pace with study and work is the focus of an innovative new community education program being run by the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Starting June 9 and running until December, Keep Pace is a series of free information sessions and workshops open to high school students, parents and the community.
The eight topics held over 13 sessions have been created to guide people through the choices available to them for study and work according to Keep Pace organiser Kylie McKenzie.
"The Keep Pace program was created to meet a need in the community," Ms McKenzie said.
"Students face a wide choice of options when they leave school and Keep Pace offers an opportunity for students and their parents to ask questions about university applications, scholarships, life at university and how to upgrade their OP."
"Also, many adults are looking to return to study or develop their career skills and Keep Pace offers free information sessions on both these topics," she said.
Other sessions focus on the opportunities for overseas study while at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
"The University has built partnerships with many other universities around the world, and our students are offered the chance to spend a semester studying in America, Japan or Chile," she said.
The community-based programs include sessions on returning to study for mature-aged students.
