The work of Computer Based Art and Design students from the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) will be showcased in a new exhibition at the University Gallery opening June 11.
Zenith explores the relationship with technology and how it shapes our lives. The exhibition showcases thought provoking, dynamic, and at times, confronting digital artworks.
USC Computer Based Art and Design course coordinator Debbie Livingstone oversaw the student's work as they prepared for the exhibition.
"Zenith" is a collection of vibrant and relevant artworks that reflect both the positive and negative outcomes of contemporary and future society. The large digital prints explore and reflect the unique characteristics of digital imaging," Ms Livingstone said.
"Students have tackled diverse issues such as identity, genetics, technology, animation, cyberspace and genetically enhanced food products."
"This is an innovative exhibition and one that meets professional standards," she said.
Visitors to the exhibition will see large format digital images of very high technical and artistic standards.
Acting Gallery Director, Dawn Oelrich is confident Zenith will appeal to a wide audience.
"Student exhibitions are always popular and Zenith is an innovative display with educational relevance not only at university level but also for high school students considering a career in design. I am sure the exhibition will encourage an appreciation of this art form," Ms Oelrich said.
