Weapons of Mass Creation on show at USC
22 October, 2004
The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery will feature the Queensland advertising industry's most creative work at the annual Brisbane Advertising & Design Awards (BAD) exhibition.
This significant exhibition, only on show at the University, will be opened by BAD Club President, Zuraya Hamilton, on Friday October 29 at 6pm.
The Brisbane Advertising & Design (BAD) Awards are given to the most outstanding creative talent in the Brisbane and regional advertising and design industry over the past 12 months.
The awards, selected by a panel of national industry experts, recognise excellence and innovation in all areas of commercial design.
The exhibition at the University Gallery features the finalists and winning works and is the only venue where the winners can be viewed.
Awards are given in a variety of categories including; electronic and print media, product packaging, promotional material, merchandising, billboard design, illustration, photography, and of special interest, regional and student entries.
University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery Director Lisa Chandler said the exhibition is a celebration of creativity and for the past two years Sunshine Coast designers have been among the winners.
"These are the highest standards of advertising and design in Queensland," Ms Chandler said.
"This year's theme is 'Weapons of Mass Creation' and the exhibition contains creative, clever, humorous and sometimes controversial work," said Ms Chandler.
The local entrants are members of the Regional Advertising and Design (RAD) Club.
RAD aims to promote the design industry on the Sunshine Coast, and is affiliated with the BAD Club.
The BAD Awards annual exhibition is now a regular event on the University Gallery's calendar and is proving increasingly popular with visitors.
The exhibition continues until November 13. There is no charge and the public is welcome.
Gallery hours are Monday to Friday 10am until 4pm, and Saturday 1pm to 4pm.
The 2004 Gallery Program is proudly supported by Coastline BMW.
