Survival tips for returning to study

4 October, 2004

Wednesday 13 October - 6.30pm at the University.

Many Sunshine Coast residents who are not school leavers are choosing to take advantage of having the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) right here on their doorstep.

Mature age entry (meaning people over the age of 21 years) to university is proving increasingly popular on the Coast as people plan a career change or upgrade.

Still more people choose to return to study to keep up to date with current issues and expand their skills and knowledge.

With more students than ever expected to enrol at the University in 2005, USC is holding a public information evening for those who would like to know more about returning to study.

The evening, on Wednesday October 13, will be a workshop designed to identify and explore issues relevant to people who are planning to return to formal education and particularly those mature age students who are interested in attending university for the first time.

As part of the popular Keep Pace Program, coordinator Kylie McKenzie said the workshop will be an opportunity to discuss concerns or issues relating to returning to study.

"People will have the chance to discuss how they can juggle family, finances, work, personal life and study," Ms McKenzie said.

"Many people have concerns about how they will fit it all in, and this evening will hopefully inspire them to return to study by showing that it can be done."

"The University offers a wide range of subjects and degrees that would greatly enhance a persons prospects of career improvement or, if they want, a total career change."

"If people already have an undergraduate degree, they can add a post graduate certificate, diploma or masters qualification to their qualifications," Ms McKenzie said.

This free information evening is open to everyone but bookings are essential. Please call (07) 5459 4558 to secure your place.
