Not a BAD idea - latest art offerings
3 October, 2005
The University of the Sunshine Coast Art Gallery will host the fabulous Brisbane Advertising and Design (BAD) awards opening Thursday 14 October at 6pm.
Titled 'Idea Wins!', the exhibition will be opened by Justine Douglas, Marketing Manager of the award-winning post-production company Cutting Edge.
Idea Wins! is a visual and audio feast of Queensland's best advertising industry work, presenting the top campaigns, posters, photography, graphic design, sound, advertising copy, web design and more.
"The Brisbane Advertising and Design awards always generate a great deal of interest," said Debbie Livingston, BAD Club Committee member and lecturer in art and design at the University.
"A panel of local and interstate judges looking for originality and freshness seek outstanding examples in the fields of advertising, design and commercial communication.
"Chosen works need to surprise and engage the audience or offer an unexpected solution to set it apart from other advertising.
"Not only is it a great opportunity for our students to see the best of the best but we all enjoy a glimpse into the creative genius of the advertising industry," Ms Livingston said.
Idea Wins! at the University Gallery will show the Bronze (fresh thinking), Silver (superiority in thinking and originality) and maybe a Gold or two (able to compete with the best national work).
The exhibition runs until Saturday October 29.
The Gallery is open from 10am to 4pm weekdays and 1 to 4pm Saturdays.
Admission to the exhibition is free and the public is welcome.
The 2005 USC Gallery Exhibition Program is proudly supported by Coastline BMW.
