24 February, 2005
More than 230 business students from high schools across the
Sunshine Coast will be attending a Business Enterprise Day at the
University of the Sunshine Coast today.
The University Faculty of Business and the Business Educators'
Association of Queensland are jointly sponsoring the day, which has
attracted students from Coolum State High School, Kawana Waters
SHS, Beerwah SHS, Pacific Lutheran, and Mathew Flinders.
These school students will be setting up and operating small
businesses as part of their school work this semester and the
Business Enterprise Day has been designed to provide students with
a greater understanding of entrepreneurship at work.
Karon Cameron, Marketing Manager, Lend Lease Sunshine Plaza will
be providing key business insights to students, along with Faculty
of Business staff, and representatives from some of the top
businesses on the Coast.
A variety of topics will be covered during the day, including
identifying critical business success factors, creating business
plans, financial planning, marketing, e-commerce, motivation and
human resource management.
Wayne Graham of the Faculty of Business will open the Business
Enterprise Day.
"It is a great example of the University successfully working in
partnership with the Business Educators' Association of Queensland,
local schools and businesses," he said.
The event will be held in the Innovation Centre at the
University of the Sunshine Coast and runs from 9am to 2pm.
Between 1pm and 1.30pm the students will be involved in a mass
brainstorming session developing a marketing plan for a fictitious
business - Blue Tooth Dentistry.
