Business plan competition

Business students at the University of the Sunshine Coast will
put their knowledge to the test this Thursday and have the chance
to win $1500 prize money.
The Students Mean Business Club, which is part of the Faculty of
Business at USC is holding a Business Plan Competition.
The competition is the result of a grant awarded to the
University from the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources
under the National Innovation Awareness Strategy.
The Faculty of Business received $10,000 in the second year of
funding of the grant, in addition to $15,000 received last year for
the same project.
Business students will take part in the competition, which will
be judged by a panel of experts including Professor Deborah
Ralston, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr Rodney Farr-Wharton,
Senior Lecturer in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Neil Thompson,
Director, Sajen Legal and Anton Mogg, Manager, Noosa Heads Surf
Life Saving Supporters Club.
The Students Mean Business Club support students who are
establishing or already operating their own businesses by linking
them with local industry professionals who mentor, counsel and
guide them through to successful business operation.
It also provides an outlet for entrepreneurial students who have
a great business idea but don't know where to start.
The winner of the 2005 Business Plan Competition will receive
$1500 prize money to kick start their business idea.
