The Queensland Police Service (QPS) launched a new assault reduction campaign, produced by University of the Sunshine Coast students today.

The campaign, which covers broadcast and print media, focuses on the consequences of violence in the community.

The theme is - "Just let it go, you could lose more than your temper."

Communication students from the University were involved in the project from the beginning and one student wrote and sung the theme tune.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas said the project aligned with the University's aim of ensuring USC students graduate with practical work experience and skills.

"Students were involved with the project from its inception. They worked closely with the Police Service and treated them as clients," Professor Thomas said.

"The result is an example of the two-way benefits of the community 'tapping into' the skills available at the University and students gaining workplace experience with real clients," he said.
