USC appoints new Dean
30 November, 2005
The University is pleased to announce the appointment of
Associate Professor Pam Dyer to Dean of the Faculty of Arts and
Social Sciences.
Dr Dyer, one of the founding staff members of the University,
brings expertise in the areas of environmental and planning
studies, natural resource planning and management, eco-tourism and
interpretation, and the effects of human interaction with the
natural environment.
Her PhD research into the breeding status of burrowing birds led
Dr Dyer to developing a 'burrowscope' which allows a non-intrusive
study of birds in the burrow - a tool now commonly used for the
monitoring of burrowing species in Australia and overseas.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas announced the appointment
this week.
"Dr Dyer has worked tirelessly for the Faculty and the
University throughout her time here and I'm confident that in this
new role she will have an even greater opportunity to further
contribute to the effective growth of the University," Professor
Thomas said.
Dr Dyer has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a PhD from the
University of Queensland.
