More than 400 graduates celebrated the conclusion of years of hard work, sacrifice and study last night at the University's seventh annual Graduation Ceremony.

The Graduating Class of 2005 consisted of more than 650 graduates, many of who are already forging successful careers locally and throughout Australia.

Acting Chancellor Tim Fairfax, AM, FAICD, awarded the degree awards to a stream of excited graduands on centre stage at the Innovation Centre.

Honorary Senior Fellowships were awarded to local community members Shay Zulpo and Doug Biggs and graduate Suzanne Burford received the Chancellor's Medal for her outstanding academic and community involvement while studying at USC and she also gave the Graduate Response on behalf of all the 2005 Graduating Class.

It was a gala night of celebration and congratulations for everyone involved.

Family and friends gave a rousing cheer for the graduates as they fell in behind the academic procession and exited the building as fully-fledged graduates of the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Alumni numbers for the University now stand at more than 3000.

The 2006 Graduation will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the University's first intake of students in 1996.
