Jacaranda drawing award at USC Gallery

The University Gallery will begin its 2005 program with a stunning exhibition featuring Australia's finest drawings.
On the evening of 24 February the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA) exhibition will be officially opened by Jude McBean - Director of the Grafton Regional Gallery in NSW.
Open to all Australian artists, the biennial award is held by the Grafton Regional Gallery and attracts entries by artists from all over the country.
As Australia's richest acquisitive drawing prize the first-prize winner receives $15,000 and the Grafton Regional Gallery adds $10,000 worth of paintings from the exhibition to their collection.
USC Gallery Curator, Dawn Oelrich, said JADA aims to promote excellence and innovation in contemporary Australian drawing.
"Each year JADA grows in size and this year we are able to show more than 40 selected works including the prize-winning entry Carbon Group No.21 by Melbourne-based artist Jon Cattapan," Ms Oelrich said.
"This is an exceptional opportunity to see the best drawing in Australia today - it is an exhibition for artists, art students and art lovers alike.
"The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery is its first stop of a national tour and the exhibition will be open until early April," she said.
The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery, located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs, is open to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 4pm. The Gallery is closed Sundays and public holidays.
The Gallery is open to the general public.
