3 August, 2005
University of the Sunshine Coast student and local swimmer, Lucy
Saville, will represent the Coast after winning a place at the
World University Games in Turkey this month.
The University is sponsoring Ms Saville to travel to Turkey as a
member of the 12-person Australian team.
The World University Games is a major international sporting
event bringing together university sporting representatives from
around the world.
Ms Saville is studying a Bachelor of Social Science (Community
Work) and is in her final year.
She began swimming competitively at age 14 and sees this
opportunity as a way to not only further her swimming career, but
also to represent USC internationally.
"I am achieving many of my goals and objectives and I see this
next step in my swimming future as a wonderful opportunity," Ms
Saville said.
"I regard the opportunity of representing my University and
Australia at such a significant international event the pinnacle of
my career so far."
Ms Saville has already competed in Brisbane and Sydney this year
placing third at the Age and Open Queensland Championships in the
Women's 100 freestyle event.
