Make 2005 your year
28 April, 2005
The University of the Sunshine Coast is offering some of its most popular and successful courses mid-year, and it is not too late to apply.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Greg Hill, urges people to consider taking advantage of extra student places and flexible entry rankings to start their degree mid-year rather than waiting until 2006.
"USC is offering more than 30 courses mid-year including some of our most popular and successful degrees such as Bachelor of Arts (Communication), Bachelor of Business (Accounting), Bachelor of Science (Sport and Exercise Science) and our combined Bachelor of Education degrees," Professor Hill said.
All USC graduates have the skills to 'hit the ground running' in the workplace with internships and production workshops an integral part of many degrees.
USC also offers travel grants for students to expand their global perspective by spending a semester studying at one of more than 60 prestigious partner institutions around the world including the German Sport University and State University of New York - Cortland.
The University's reputation is growing rapidly with graduates now working locally, interstate and overseas.
Professor Hill said mid-year entry attracts people who are currently working and looking to upgrade their careers.
"Work and life experience can count toward university entry and many people are deciding to return to study to improve their career opportunities," Professor Hill said.
"In most cases, TAFE qualifications will provide advanced standing into degree programs.
"Also people who completed high school at the end of 2004 and have taken a break from study apply for mid-year entry."
2005 is shaping up to be an excellent year to apply.
"Extra student places are available and we'd like to remind the community that mid-year can be a great time to start university study," Professor Hill said.
QTAC will make first round offers for mid-year entry on June 16 and final round offers on July 13.
All applications for mid-year entry can be made through QTAC at www.qtac.edu.au
