19 January, 2005
The University of the Sunshine Coast is pleased to announce a range of new degrees on offer to International Students in 2005.
The following programs have been recently accredited for International Students;
Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning)
Bachelor of Regional and Urban Planning
Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing
Graduate Diploma in Creative Writing
Graduate Certificate in Social Science (Community Services Management)
Graduate Diploma in Social Science (Community Services Management)
These programs have all been created to meet specific demands in these professions.
The Bachelor of Regional and Urban Planning, new to USC in 2005, was designed in direct response to an Australia-wide and international shortage of qualified planners.
"Bachelor of Regional and Urban Planning graduates will have a wide choice of career opportunities including community development, corporate or strategic development, ecotourism, environmental planning or management and of course, regional and urban planning," Senior Lecturer in Environmental and Planning Studies, Dr Pam Dyer, said.
With the University's strong commitment to industry experience, field trips will play an important part in the degree.
"The Sunshine Coast is an ideal region in which to study planning. Offering this degree on the Coast will give our graduates practical experience in one of Australia's fastest growing regional areas," Dr Dyer said.
The University of the Sunshine Coast Creative Writing course enjoys outstanding success.
Having published authors as Creative Writing lecturers and tutors has paid off, with staff and students celebrating numerous publishing contracts and awards during 2004.
Three students received publishing contracts, one launched a book, two staff members released four books between them and another staff member won a publishing contract as part of a prestigious literary award.
USC Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing, Gary Crew, is the author of almost 50 published works and has won numerous awards during his prolific writing career.
