Recording studio opens
18 August, 2005
The University of the Sunshine Coast and Education Queensland,
through the ICT Learning Innovation Centre, will launch a new state
of the art recording studio within the ICT Building at the
University today.
The Studio's debut will feature Chancellor State College's
Middle School choir recording a backing track for their school
promotional video.
The Studio will be available to schools and the community for
high-grade audio and video recording of local choirs and singing
groups, recording bands and for the production of music videos.
Other features include green screen facilities, studio lighting,
sound absorptive walls and ceilings and a separate sound dubbing
room. The sound recording system is based on Digidesign Protools HD
along with production grade microphones and other recording
equipment.
The Studio will also be used for sound and video production that
supports University learning and teaching, research activities that
require multimedia production, and music/sound/video production for
the corporate sector, in support of regional arts activities and
other studio-based work such as photography.
For Education Queensland the benefits will be that local schools
will have access to produce high quality recordings to support Arts
programs run at local levels.
School activities include recording of school choirs,
voice-overs for drama or literacy programs, and merging multimedia
and video production with high quality sound tracks.
The Studio will also be available to musical groups, ranging
from string quartets to rock bands. In conjunction with the ICT
Learning Innovation Centre schools will be able to produce studio
quality CD recordings of their performances
Schools can book the facility through the ICT Learning
Innovation Centre on 5459 4590. Community and corporate groups can
contact the University on 5430 1173.
