Sculpture exhibition opens at USC
21 September, 2005
20 September to 8 October
An exhibition of small-scale sculpture opened to the public at the University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery last night.
Designed to complement the International Sculpture Symposium at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens, the exhibition runs until Saturday 8 October.
Eight artists from around the world (Japan, South Korea, Spain, France, Slovakia, USA and Australia) plus local artists are presenting an exhibition of exquisite small-scale sculpture.
"It is the first exhibition at the Gallery that is devoted totally to sculpture and it is stunning," said Gallery Curator Dawn Oelrich, "What an opportunity for the people of the Sunshine Coast."
"The International Sculpture Symposium is such an exciting event. We will be able to watch the creation of artworks before our very eyes.
"The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery is happy to support the event by holding an exhibition here with the international visitors and some of Australia's finest sculptors.
"Some of the locals are Glen Manning, Fiona McCarron and Hew Chee Fong.
"I hope everyone will visit the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens sometime between 24 September and 9 October while the Symposium is on, and then they can call in here to the University Gallery after to see the smaller pieces," said Ms Oelrich.
The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery is open from 10am to 4pm weekdays and 1 to 4pm on Saturday. Admission to the exhibition is free and the public is welcome.
The 2005 USC Gallery Exhibition Program is proudly supported by Coastline BMW.
