Professor of Communication appointed

The University of the Sunshine Coast has appointed Professor
Stephen Quinn as Professor of Communication.
Professor Quinn's teaching areas include journalism and
communication studies and his research areas cover media
convergence, media and technology, media literacy and
computer-assisted reporting.
A prolific author, Professor Quinn has written four books;
Knowledge Management in the Digital Newsroom, Digital Sub-Editing
and Design, Newsgathering on the Net and The Art of Learning.
He has also co-authored Bridging the Gulf: Communications Law in
the United Arab Emirates and has another three books due out this
year, including Convergent Journalism.
Professor Quinn recently returned from the United States where
he was Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism at Ball
State University in Indiana.
He brings with him an extensive international background in
journalism having worked in all areas of the media in Australia,
Thailand, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and the United Arab
Emirates and run journalism courses in nine countries.
