Mid-year orientation begins at USC
12 July, 2006
More than 500 people start their studies at the University of
the Sunshine Coast today - the biggest mid-year intake in the
University's ten-year history.
This semester's intake includes 270 domestic students and almost
190 international students from a variety of countries around the
world.
A new program, launched for Semester 2, has been hailed as a
success for new students: the Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP)
was developed to offer an alternative entry pathway to tertiary
study.
Upon successful completion of four free TPP courses, students
are able to gain guaranteed entry into most USC degree programs
through the standard QTAC application process. (Courses completed
through TPP cannot be used as credit towards a degree.)
More people applied than expected, and 44 people are now
enrolled.
Overall, there has been a 20% increase on USC's student intake
compared to this time last year. The University continues to build
on the huge growth experienced in 2005.
Semester 2 Orientation is a two-day program of information
sessions and activities designed to introduce new students to
university life on the Sunshine Coast.
Lectures for the entire student population commence next
week.

to university.
