25 July, 2006
University of Sunshine Coast Bachelor of Business student, Trent
McArdle, has won a scholarship valued at $2,000 as part of the
Queensland Government's South Carolina Tourism and Hospitality
Exchange Program.
Following in the footsteps of past USC students who have been
awarded this scholarship, Trent will begin at the College of
Charleston, South Carolina on August 18.
The scheme was initiated to assist students in travelling abroad
to experience a different lifestyle and broaden their
education.
"I am very much looking forward to experiencing university in
America and building on my studies in Business, Accounting and
Tourism," said Trent.
The scholarship is selected on the basis of academic merit in
areas relevant to tourism and hospitality.
"There are many things I want to experience over there, from the
uni nightlife right through to the possibility of being coached by
prominent swimming coaches. It's just such a great opportunity for
me," Trent said.
University of the Sunshine Coast has a number of travel grants
and scholarship opportunities available to students, allowing
students to travel overseas as part of their degrees.
