Graduation 2006 - to the Power of Ten

The University celebrated its eighth annual graduation ceremony with more than 450 graduates receiving their degrees in a gala event as part of the University's tenth anniversary.
Graduates from the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business, and Science, Health and Education, celebrated the end of years of hard work and long hours studying before a capacity crowd of family and friends.
Bachelor of Social Science (Community Work) graduate, Emma Kill, received the Chancellor's Medal and outstanding students from each faculty were recognised with University Medals; Michael Buky from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Amanda Carrol from the Faculty of Business and Leanne Taylor from the Faculty of Science, Health and Education.
Honorary Doctorates were awarded to Australian champion marathon runner Mr Robert de Castella MBE, and the Hon. Dr David Kemp, former Federal Minister for Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs.
The title of Honorary Senior Fellow was awarded to; Mrs Arija Austin, Mr Harry Reed, Mr Ken Reed and Mrs Margaret Reed and Mrs Beryl Spencer for their significant contributions to either the University or to the Sunshine Coast region.
Academic staff were recognised for their contribution with the Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Outstanding University Researcher awarded to Dr Gary Crew, the Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Outstanding University Teacher awarded to Dr Maria Raciti and the Vice-Chancellor's Medal for Outstanding Service (Teaching and Research) awarded to Dr Elizabeth Eddy.
Mr Mark Bradley from the University's Capital Programs and Operations and Mrs Lynn Foster from Student Administration were both awarded Vice-Chancellor's Medals for Outstanding Service (Administrative, Professional and Technical).
A gala after-party was held in the Gallery Courtyard following the formal ceremony and graduates, family, friends, staff and special guests celebrated into the evening.
