The University of the Sunshine has launched its popular Keep PACE program for 2006.

Keep PACE (Program for Advancing Community Education) is a series of free information sessions and workshops for students, parents and the community which run through the year.

First established in 2004, the range of sessions on offer expands each year in response to public demand.

More and more people are taking advantage of the program to find out more about what USC has to offer according to Keep PACE coordinator Kylie McKenzie.

"High school students, parents, mature age students and people who just generally want to improve their study skills can attend these free sessions to find out more about USC or to improve their personal skills," Ms McKenzie said.

"The program calendar is based around key enrolment dates for university study, so if someone is interested in studying in second semester this year or first semester 2007, they can attend an information session to find out more.

"We also offer academic skills sessions such as note taking, avoiding plagiarism and finding information online.

"These are for anyone interested in improving their skills, not just those who want to study at university."

This year, USC has included personal career counselling session throughout the year.

"We introduced them last year and they proved so popular we decided to run them throughout 2006," she said.

"Careers and Employment staff from the University will be available to meet with people in either the USC Noosa Centre or at our main Sippy Downs campus."

Other new additions to this year's Keep PACE Program are Faculty Information Sessions.

"The University's three Faculties of Business, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science Health and Education, will all be running information sessions in May along with a special Education program session, for people interested in becoming school teachers," Ms McKenzie said.

Designed to help people select the right course for them, the Faculty Information Sessions will include an overview of that individual Faculty's degrees and related career opportunities, majors and minors, combined degrees and workplace learning. Staff will also be on hand to answer your questions.

The sessions are free, but bookings are essential, contact 5459 4558 or email kpage@usc.edu.au to secure your place.
