Mid-Year Entry
26 April, 2006
Mid-year entry at the University of the Sunshine Coast is open and applications can be made directly to the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).
USC offers the majority of its degrees mid-year and students are encouraged to apply ahead of the 2007 intake.
QTAC will make first round offers for mid-year entry on 16 June and final round offers on 12 July for a 17 July start at USC.
Mid-year entry often attracts people who are currently working and looking to upgrade or totally change their careers.
Around half of the 5,000 students currently at USC are non-school leavers and many are successfully combining study, work and family life and many have made dramatic career changes on graduation.
Prior work experience, TAFE courses and other post-school learning can all contribute toward an entry ranking to begin university study.
The University has introduced a new alternative entry program for Semester 2, 2006 to provide more opportunities for people to study at university level.
The Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP) program allows non-school leavers who do not have an OP score to study up to four subjects at USC at no charge and gain a QTAC entry ranking to apply to study a full degree.
Since opening in 1996, USC has developed a reputation for quality education with the highest proportion of academic staff with Doctoral or Masters qualifications of any university in Queensland - and fifth highest of all Australian universities.
Tutorial class sizes are kept small to further enhance the learning experience for students and many support programs are in place to assist students through any difficulties they may face while studying.
USC has three faculties; Arts and Social Sciences, Business, and Science Health and Education, that offer a wide range of degrees and career outcomes.
USC graduates are working locally, across Queensland, Australia and internationally.
