Study begins at USC Noosa Centre
10 March, 2006
Thirty-one new university students have begun their study year at the University of the Sunshine Coast's Noosa Centre.
The University is offering first year business subjects from the Sunshine Beach location.
In its first months of operation, the Centre has already attracted mostly school leavers to study business subjects at the Bicentennial Hall site.
Classes run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and University Careers and Employment staff are offering free career counselling appointments to the public from the Centre each Wednesday afternoon.
One-on-one career sessions are by appointment only - contact 5430 1226 or email studentservices@usc.edu.au to arrange a time that suits you.
From the beginning of this year, the University has offered first-year undergraduate Business studies from the Noosa premises, allowing students to study a first-class USC degree in a location that is convenient for them.
And a business degree from the University of the Sunshine Coast equals a job according to a recent survey* of Australian university business degrees.
USC's Faculty of Business accounting graduates come out in top place in the survey of business graduate employment rates with USC's business degrees rating higher than the national average when it comes to graduates finding jobs.
USC accounting graduates have a 100 per cent success rate (the national rate is 91 per cent), while other graduate employment rates - including marketing, tourism and human resources - are above the national average with 91 per cent of graduates finding work within four months of completing their degrees.
Degrees are structured to match industry demand and these survey results are evidence that this approach to business study at USC is working.
The Noosa Centre allows the University to more effectively cater to students' needs, while maintaining an emphasis on innovation, high-quality teaching and excellent graduate outcomes.
The Noosa Centre is a self-sufficient facility that allows students to study closer to home and develop links with local industry
It houses technologically advanced facilities, and the University's highly qualified staff deliver lectures and tutorials, offering the best in teaching and learning.
Facilities include a computer laboratory, library, lecture and tutorial rooms and a student lounge. Resources and support will include administrative services, 24-hour computer access to e-reserve collections and databases, staff-student consultation and support services.
