More than 1800 new students were welcomed to the University of the Sunshine Coast campus on Monday 13 February.

An increase of 14 per cent on last year and USC's largest intake ever.

Almost a thousand news students attended the official welcome by Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Thomas in the auditorium of the Innovation Centre.

The majority of new students are from the Sunshine Coast, and almost 200 people have made the move from the Brisbane region to attend university here.

Eighty new students have come from interstate and more than 230 are international students.

Sixty-three per cent of new undergraduate students are female and 70 per cent are aged under 21 years.

Orientation continues over the next few days before lectures begin next Monday.
