USC to host Australian String Quartet concert
One of Australia's leading chamber ensembles, the Australian String Quartet, will perform at the University of the Sunshine Coast on Friday 3 August as part of its 2007 Concert Series.
The Australian String Quartet is a new grouping this year, featuring the Tankstream Quartet of Sophie Rowell (first violin), Rachel Johnston (cello), Sally Boud (viola) and Anne Horton (second violin).
The concert, Intimate Voices, will begin at 7pm and will feature mezzo soprano Fiona Campbell in Graeme Koehne's Three Poems of Byron.
The program also will include Sibelius' Voces Intimae and Beethoven's String Quartet opus 18 no. 1 which was inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Clovely Estate winery, Noosa Blue Resort and the Sunshine Coast Daily have sponsored the concert.
Tickets to the concert have sold out.
