USC Library introduces community borrowing

Sunshine Coast residents are now eligible to register for borrowing privileges at the award-winning University of the Sunshine Coast Library.

Residents from Caloundra, Maroochy, Noosa and Cooloola shires may register to become community borrowers. An annual registration fee of $88 will apply.

Library manager Sharon Lenord said community borrowers could borrow a maximum of five items at a time from the Library’s general collection for a period of seven days.

“In keeping with USC’s commitment to regional engagement, the Library has a policy of open access and members of the community have enjoyed on-site access to the collection for study and research,” she said.

“However, borrowing privileges for community members have not been introduced until now, due to the developing nature of the collection and the need to ensure that we were able to meet the needs of University staff and students.”

Ms Lenord said the USC Library collection now included more than 100,000 items.
