University to receive $3.2m to improve productivity
The University of the Sunshine Coast is set to upgrade its information technology software after a successful submission for $3.2 million from the Federal Government.
Minister for Education, Science and Training Julie Bishop advised USC this week that it would receive $3,228,260 to improve productivity under the Government’s Workplace Productivity Program (WPP).
The USC submission was one of 36 projects approved by Ms Bishop, totalling $68 million over the next three years. Her department had received 100 high-quality submissions.
Ms Bishop said in a letter to USC that the funding program was established to help universities strengthen their capacity to manage and implement workplace change.
“The University of the Sunshine Coast plays a vital role in the delivery of education in Queensland and the enhanced efficiency and effectiveness of its operations will support improved student outcomes,” she said.
USC Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill said he was delighted the University’s application for WPP funding had been successful.
“Essentially, this funding will allow us to upgrade the main information technology platforms across the University,” he said. “It will improve the whole basis of our reporting and analysis structures.”
Professor Hill congratulated the University’s Information Technology Services office for preparing USC's submission for WPP funding.
