Austrade launches education package at USC

USC student Clint Tsakissiris

4 July 2007

Austrade, the Australian Government’s trade promotion agency, in collaboration with the University of the Sunshine Coast, today officially launched a new education package aimed at boosting Australian exports.

This package of multimedia international business case studies called “Next Step the World” Series 2, the Austrade Learning Resources for Higher Education, will be available to university students and industry across Australia.

It includes a case study prepared by former USC international business lecturer Joanne Freeman who now works for the Department of State Development.

Austrade’s State manager Cameron MacMillan and Manager of Education Programs Leigh Derigo spoke at the launch which also highlighted the 2007 Austrade Export Plan Competition for university students across Australia.

Two USC students, Clint Tsakissiris and Tyrone Zafir, won the Queensland Division of last year’s competition and received $250 prizemoney each. Clint received a certificate from the Austrade officials.

Ms Freeman said the students’ submissions to the Austrade Export Plan Competition were significant pieces of work which demonstrated their abilities to recognise the export readiness and potential of local businesses.
