Exhibition celebrates Buderim Craft Cottage's 40th birthday
The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery will join in the 40th birthday celebrations of Buderim Craft Cottage by hosting the organisation’s Hands, Hearts & Minds exhibition from Thursday 24 May to Saturday 9 June.
USC Gallery Curator Dawn Oelrich said the exhibition would feature craftwork by members of Buderim Craft Cottage, which began as an incorporated body in 1967 and now has more than 300 members pursuing excellence in craft.
Ms Oelrich said Brisbane artist and art teacher Helen Sanderson would officially open the exhibition, curated by Diane Tait, at 6pm on Thursday 24 May.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to view a variety of craft – from silver-smithing to patchwork to ceramic and lace-making and more – presented in a contemporary manner in a contemporary space,” she said.
“Freelance curator Diane Tait has posed difficult challenges to the Buderim Craft Cottage members and they have responded by producing some wonderful individual and collaborative works.
“I think people will be amazed by the very high standard of artwork coming from members of our community.”
The exhibition will be at the gallery until Saturday 9 June.
The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery, located at the University campus on Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs, is open to the public from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday. The Gallery is closed Sundays and public holidays.
The 2007 USC Gallery Exhibition Program is proudly supported by Sajen legal.
