Information evening about returning to study

USC Admissions and Recruitment Officer Lisa Latty can help prospective students lodge QTAC applications

30 April 2007

Those interested in launching a new career mid-year have been invited to a special University of the Sunshine Coast information session on Wednesday 16 May.

USC Admissions and Recruitment Officer Lisa Latty said the two-hour event from 7.30pm would explain the mid-year admission process for those interested in returning to study.

Mrs Latty said University staff also would outline the many ways they can assist students in lodging applications to study, as well as throughout their degree programs.

“This interactive workshop explores the issues relevant to students returning to formal education after a period of absence, particularly mature age students undertaking university for the first time,” she said.

Mrs Latty said topics would include:

  • the application processes and tips on how to improve your tertiary eligibility;
  • USC's Tertiary Preparation Pathway (TPP), a program which provides an alternative pathway to university for students who might not hold the relevant qualifications;
  • support services available for students starting at USC; and
  • financial support for students, Centrelink assistance and how to apply for scholarships

“Prospective students can ask questions, discuss the issues and meet other students who have successfully managed the demands of study and personal life,” she said.

The information session will be held at USC’s Lecture Theatre 2 at 7.30pm on Wednesday 16 May. To book, contact Marion Allan on 5459 4795.

The 2007 mid-year university intake opened recently for those who want to study at the University of the Sunshine Coast from July. Applications must be made directly to QTAC (Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre) at <www.qtac.edu.au> before Monday 4 June.

Details about all undergraduate and postgraduate programs available at USC for Semester 2 are listed at <www.usc.edu.au/MidYear>.
