Top students to receive $12,000 scholarships
Scholarships totalling $72,000 will be awarded to six high-achieving, first-year students at the University of the Sunshine Coast today (Tuesday 21 April).
The six $12,000 academic excellence scholarships were established through the USC Foundation last year, following generous donations by Sir Clem Renouf and Tim Fairfax AM as well as numerous gifts from the community.
The Renouf Family Scholarships are in memory of Sir Clem Renouf’s parents for providing him with the best education possible under challenging circumstances.
The 2009 recipients will be Holly Warland of Mountain Creek State High School and Hayley Armstrong of Suncoast Christian College.
The Tim Fairfax Regional Scholarships will support students who have relocated from regional or remote areas. This year’s recipients will be Christine Beutel of Kingaroy State High School and Roseanna Langmead of Gympie State High School.
The USC Chancellor’s Scholarships – awarded to recognise, reward and encourage academic excellence – will go to Jayden Lowrie of Kawana Waters State College and Felicity Cunningham of Suncoast Christian College.
